Erum is a strategy, program management, and communications professional with a background in higher education, centering on critical race theory, gender studies, participatory research, and design thinking. Erum completed a PhD and postdoctoral research in intersectional social science. She has led multiple research and educational initiatives on equity and social innovation in marginalized communities. She has also authored peer-reviewed research and cultural editorials highlighting diverse communities around the globe.

Erum has centered her career on contributing to impactful change in gender and racial justice, particularly through participatory socioeconomic analysis, equitable stakeholder engagement, and mission-aligned narrative strategies. As a first-generation immigrant and self-proclaimed “third culture kid” of mixed South Asian and Middle Eastern heritage, Erum is deeply passionate about amplifying AANHPI women and gender expansive voices, in all their intersections. Erum is based in Brooklyn, New York, where she spends her free time enjoying pop culture and supporting community initiatives centering queer culture, artists, and writers. Erum holds a BS in Philosophy and Economics from the London School of Economics, an MA and PhD in Philosophy from Temple University, and a Postdoctoral Fellowship from the Temporal Communities Research Cluster at Freie University.
