Gyan Kanal is a seasoned finance and accounting professional with over 20 years of experience supporting nonprofit organizations and for-profit businesses. His expertise spans federal contracting, business consulting, and compliance management, particularly in hiring and subcontracting diversity initiatives. In his professional work, he values open communication, a collaborative team environment, and a culture of continuous learning and growth.

Passionate about mission-driven work, Gyan is dedicated to advancing social, economic, and environmental justice. As a first-generation child of an Indian American immigrant parent, and a parent to two Chinese American children, Gyan is deeply committed to supporting NAPAWF’s mission of advocating for the rights of AAPI women and girls.

Gyan holds a Bachelor’s degree in Finance and a Master’s in Accounting and Information Systems from the University of Maryland Global Campus. He has served as a director and treasurer on nonprofit boards focused on community economic development, empowering economically disadvantaged women and youth, and improving health and environmental outcomes for rural farming communities.

Residing in the Washington, DC area, Gyan enjoys traveling, hiking and biking, and exploring the city’s vibrant cultural scene with his children.
