On November 12, 2019, NAPAWF submitted a comment to the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) to oppose a proposed rule that would stop their collection of pay gap data. In the comment, we highlighted the unique challenges that AAPI women face with the pay gap, particularly the need for disaggregated data. Although the prior data collection by the EEOC did not include disaggregated data, it was a vital step in beginning to address pay disparities for AAPIs. We also highlighted the factors influencing the pay gap for AAPI women, namely disparities in educational opportunities, occupational segregation, workplace discrimination, and the devaluation of “invisible labor.”
