Despite an announcement from Democratic leaders Rep. Pelosi and Senator Schumer on an agreement with Trump to protect Dreamers, the White House continues to voice its strong intention to build a border wall and to keep immigrants out. NAPAWF Executive Director Sung Yeon Choimorrow released the following statement in response:

“NAPAWF has supported and continues to support a clean DREAM Act that provides a timely pathway to citizenship, not one that uses Dreamers as bargaining chips for an anti-immigrant, white supremacist administration.

“We urge Congress to reject amendments and bills that tighten border securityㅡincluding the construction of a border wallㅡ, increase detention and deportation, implement changes to family-based visas and petitions, or restrict immigrant access to health care. We condemn any policy that expands deportations and attacks the family unity, reproductive freedom, and economic security of thousands of AAPI lives.”
