WASHINGTON, D.C. – As the country awaits full results of the midterm elections, the National Asian Pacific American Women’s Forum (NAPAWF) reaffirms its commitment to advocating for policies that impact the livelihood and well-being of Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) communities.
“NAPAWF remains laser-focused on prioritizing the needs and lived experiences of Asian American and Pacific Islander women and families,” said Sung Yeon Choimorrow, NAPAWF’s Executive Director. “We will continue to hold elected officials accountable for critical policies impacting AAPI communities, including access to safe and affordable reproductive health care which voters firmly voted to protect in each of the four states with abortion-related ballot initiatives.”
In addition to defending access to reproductive and abortion care, NAPAWF will continue advocating for:
-
Passage of the HEAL for Immigrant Families Act to expand health care access for immigrants and their families
-
Repeal of the Hyde Amendment through the EACH Act
-
Access to over-the-counter birth control
-
Disaggregated data on AAPI communities across all federal agencies
-
Strengthened language access protections for individuals with limited English proficiency (LEP)
-
Closing the wage gap for working Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) women
