Washington D.C. – The National Asian Pacific American Women’s Forum (NAPAWF) stands ready to confront the challenges posed by the incoming Trump administration, whose agenda threatens reproductive rights, immigrant protections, and the well-being of communities of color.
As an advocacy group for AAPI women and gender expansive people, NAPAWF is resolved to defend the rights of Black, brown, immigrant, and LGBTQIA+ communities from policies that would roll back hard-won protections and human rights. NAPAWF calls on the AAPI community and allies to join a united front against the incoming administration’s authoritarian agenda and its efforts to dismantle reproductive and immigrant rights.
Sung Yeon Choimorrow, NAPAWF’s Executive Director issued the following statement:
“The outcome of this election sets us on a difficult path to secure a just future for reproductive rights. Trump’s proposed policies will deeply harm AAPI women and gender-expansive communities. Although this isn’t the fight we hoped for, it’s one we are prepared to face head-on, with our livelihoods on the line.
“We have faced these threats before, and we will mobilize our communities again to protect the rights and safety of AAPI women and gender-expansive individuals,” said Choimorrow. “Our communities will not be disenfranchised. Together, we will stand firm against any rollback of the protections we’ve fought to achieve.”
