Welcome, Christina Baal-Owens, Interim Executive Director

Today, we are excited to celebrate Christina Baal-Owens’ first day as our Interim Executive Director! After serving on the NAPAWF board for the past year, Christina is shifting to support our work in a new capacity as we conduct a robust search for a new executive director.

Christina comes to this role with two decades of work building power and organizing with and for working families, immigrants and women of color — from her experience as a political staffer to her work leading budget and legislative campaigns on behalf of the immigrant community. She also founded and served as the Executive Director of Vive El Sueño, an entrepreneur training program based in Nosara, Costa Rica and Public Wise, a national US based democracy organization.

With a clear eye towards the future and deep respect for NAPAWF’s 29-year history, we cannot think of a better person to carry our mission forward at this critical juncture for NAPAWF and our country. We’ve been fortunate to work alongside Christina over the past year as a member of our Board and are eager for her to connect with you all as she takes up the mantle of leadership.

“I am honored to join NAPAWF in this interim capacity, and I do so with a deep sense of responsibility to support a strong, steady transition and continue the important work to build power for AAPI women and girls,” said Christina. “To our partners, funders, and champions in elected positions around the nation, thank you for the work you do every day to advance justice and equity. I look forward to strengthening our relationships in this new role and continuing to build the collective power necessary to shape a future where all our communities can thrive.”

Please join us in welcoming Christina to this new role and continuing our fight for a world where we can all flourish and live autonomous, dignified and safe lives in supportive communities.
