WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, the Congressional Pro-Choice Caucus unveiled its new name as it embarks on a transformative chapter of advocacy. Renamed the Congressional Reproductive Freedom Caucus, the group also previewed a potential Reproductive Justice Task Force to expand its mission and address barriers to reproductive care through a holistic and inclusive framework.

Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley (D-Mass.) will join Congresswoman Diana DeGette (D-Colo.) as Co-Chair of the Caucus, signaling an unwavering commitment to safeguarding reproductive rights and championing justice.

“The renaming of the Reproductive Freedom Caucus and anticipated creation of a Reproductive Justice Task Force represent a bold evolution of its mission,” said Sung Yeon Choimorrow, Executive Director of the National Asian Pacific American Women’s Forum (NAPAWF). “These steps reflect a recognition of the urgent need to advance equitable access to care for all. As Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) women and gender-expansive individuals prepare to face relentless attacks under the Trump-Vance Administration, we are inspired by leaders who will boldly defend our health, safety, and autonomy.”

The planned Task Force underscores the Caucus’s commitment to addressing structural inequities that hinder access to reproductive care—particularly for marginalized and underserved communities. The Task Force demonstrates the growing influence of advocates like NAPAWF and its partners in Intersections of Our Lives, who have worked tirelessly to integrate reproductive justice into the broader movement for equity and liberation.

“The planned creation of a Reproductive Justice Task Force within the Caucus marks a pivotal shift in how policymakers address reproductive health,” said Tuyet Duong, NAPAWF Chief Policy and Government Affairs Officer. “This initiative centers communities most affected by systemic barriers, particularly women of color and immigrant communities, and promotes policies that affirm bodily autonomy and ensure that everyone has the opportunity to thrive.”

This is more than a name change; it signals a renewed and expanded approach to safeguarding the fundamental rights of all people to make decisions about their bodies, health, and families. As anti-abortion extremists and politicians continue their relentless assault on reproductive health, the Reproductive Freedom Caucus’s work has never been more critical.

“Congresswoman Pressley has long been a visionary leader in the fight for reproductive rights and justice,” added Choimorrow. “NAPAWF looks forward to collaborating with her, Co-Chair DeGette, and the members of the Reproductive Freedom Caucus to confront persistent barriers to reproductive health care for women and gender-expansive people of color, including AAPI communities. Together, we will fight for a future where true justice and liberation are achievable for all.”
