Roe Anniversary Campaign: Tell them #ImInThe78%!
On January 22, take your selfie and tweet #ImInThe78% #AAPIsupportRoe
On January 22, 1973, in the landmark Roe v. Wade case, the Supreme Court made abortion care legal – giving women the freedom to make their own personal decisions about their health, families, and lives.
We use this moment to call attention to how abortion politics impact us as AAPI women. We shed light on the unfortunate truth that, for many low-income women in our community, the right to abortion has been meaningless. Despite the traditional narrative, the vast majority – 78% – of AAPIs support some form of legal abortion, and AAPI women are defying stereotypes every day with tremendous acts of courage.
This month, we’re asking our members to fearlessly declare their support for abortion rights and call on their elected officials to do the same.
Progressive AAPI women exist, and we will be heard. You can join us by:
TAKING A SELFIE. We’re collecting photos of our members holding signs declaring they’re one of the 78% of AAPIs who support abortion rights.
- Make your own sign or use one of our templates here
- Hold your sign, snap a pic, and send it to Christine at firstname.lastname@example.org for our Tumblr page.
TWEETING. On January 22, we’ll be holding a tweet chat about the alarming attacks on abortion we’re seeing and how they impact AAPI women. Follow us @napawf, use hashtags #ImInThe78% and #AAPIsupportRoe.
