VOTE FOR DC!
In the last year, the NAPAWF- DC Chapter has provided a myriad of mission-specific programming, successfully reaching diverse audiences and across generations. We coordinated a workshop on salary negotiations for DC and other NAPAWF chapters, collaborated with local LGBT and AAPI organizations, assisted with voter registration for the presidential election, closely followed and responded to legislation targeting our community, and many other community activities and services! In the fall of 2012, the DC Chapter developed its first mentorship program for college students. The Mentorship Program paired each student with a NAPAWF-DC mentor, engaged them in professional and personal development workshops, strength assessments, and personalized goal setting and guidance.
In March of this year, after participating in the National Power UP! Summit, NAPAWF-DC sisters joined hundreds of supporters, advocates, and community leaders at the Rally #4ImmigrantWomen, Youth and Families. Afterwards, our sisters were out in full force making lobby visits and advocating on behalf of our AAPI immigrant communities. Since the summit, our chapter launched a campaign to advocate for immigrant women’s rights with a focus on protections for immigrant survivors of intimate partner violence in the comprehensive immigration reform bill. To top it off, we will be hosting our 4th Annual NAPAWF-DC Quiz Bowl this July – DC’s only Asian American trivia event!
