Whose body is at stake? Washington DC says…!
The National Asian Pacific American Women’s Forum holds an annual Membership Drive. This year’s subject is “Whose Body?”. There have been many attacks against reproductive justice and women’s rights for the past several months. Each chapter is encouraged to submit an artwork expressing how these political discussions affect us. Here is our submission for the DC Chapter.
Breath is essential. Breath is delicate but powerful. Breath can be liberating yet can be controlled. This performance art film focuses on the connection of breath and life. Some ideas in this video are: breath symbolizing life, breath in relation to the womb, and the treatment of life (of a woman, inside a woman). The video seeks to portray the critical distinction between the government seeking to protect the woman’s body and restricting it.
