Title: Health care reform briefing
Description: Health care reform briefing this Sunday, 1/17 in Seattle

We need to make sure the API voices are heard so we can speak out against the Stupak Amendment and the five-year waiting period for documented immigrants to access Medicaid. Yes, accessibility, affordability, employer responsibility and other issues are important, but we need to emphasize how the five-year ban and the Stupak Amendment is devastating to Immigrants and Reproductive Justice for women.

The Public is invited to attend a briefing on the status and impact of national health care reform

The briefing will feature U.S. Rep. Jim McDermott (D-7th); State Sen. Karen Keiser, chair of the Senate Health and Human Services Committee; and State Rep. Eileen Cody, chair of the House Health and Wellness Care Committee.

This event is a great opportunity to find out about the latest on national health reform from those closest to the debate, and how changes are likely to impact Washington and its residents. Some changes will immediately affect us in 2010, and there may be funds that can be used to fund our state\’s Basic Health Plan benefits to prevent more cuts.

Come to this stakeholder briefing and learn the facts!
