On Friday, Governor Jan Brewer of Arizona signed a rabidly anti-immigrant bill that would require law enforcement officials to question people about their immigration status if the officer has a "reasonable suspicion" that the person is in the U.S. illegally. We believe that this new law legalizes and encourages racial profiling.
Let this be a rallying point for those who care about justice to stand up against blind anti-immigrant sentiment this May 1st. May Day is a day every year for people to rally nation-wide for real immigration reform. Find the May Day rally near you and let us know if you or your NAPAWF chapter are organizing any activities yourselves!
